@computergenius100 - start by trying to play tunes you know and preferably like without looking at any music. The experiment with different starting notes. This will get you to find your way around the instrument in different keys. When you make mistakes, (and everybody does), because you know the tune you will find the right notes. This is a valuable precursor to trying to play jazz.
@computergenius100 - then listen to your favourite players and try copying some of their licks - in the same way as with the tunes.
