De aardappeleters is zijn bekendste schilderij.
De rode wijngaard is het enigste schilderij dat hij ooit heeft verkocht (400 fr.) een paar maanden voor zijn dood (zelfmoord)
van Gogh produceerde al zijn werk in slechts 10 jaar, en wordt tegenwoordig gezien als één van de grootste schilders uit de 19e eeuw...

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a Dutch post- impressionist artist, a predecessor of Expressionism.
Many of his paintings are among the world's most revered, recognizable and expensive works of art.
During his life he sold only one painting, just a couple of months before van Gogh shot himself in the chest.
