@gdurant there are some yes... fresh graduate LTs. SOME not all or some officers who just transferred to a rifle plt and dont have a clue how to use it. In this particular battle, our company's command Charlie Co. (dont know about other companies) was fucking amazing they made sure we gave them a hell of a fight and came home safe.. w/ 1 KIA we spearheaded most of the missions too..just for you gdurant, thank God for Army tanks hahaha they moved while we protected their flanks on foot =)

@MRdeucin Unfortunately I have seen too many marines die as a result very incompetent marine leaders, Maybe the US should put some marine officers in prison and i'll bet many fewer marines would die.
-
@MRdeucin At least you are honest so God speed to you.

@gdurant hahaha i'll give the Army that.. they did help us with a shitload of tanks..we had 1200 total in our batt.. but we were spread out in different places.. we sent a platoon to fallujah..some in diwaniyah..a platoon in the govt. building..a company in Fob Duke. another in Fob Baker. we had 4 tanks but they had to rotate by 2s every 12 hrs..2 rifle plt(1 more rifle plt arrived in the 2nd day), 1 mortar plt, and 1 CAAT plt...with a few Light Armored Rec in the fight... IN ALL THIS MADNESS!!!

@usergreg1498 respecting holy sites was a pain in the ass while getting shot at.... the worst one was regulating facial standards(must shave)... in battle... lol no one did though... we knew assaulting through the cemetery was suicide.. but we needed evidence to prove they were using it for weapons cache and HQ...lolz
Yes, really. Defenders almost always have a distinct advantage over an assaulting force, even if they are otherwise outmatched. Conducting MOUT operations against the home team, who are dig in, prepared, and know the terrain and environment far better than visiting team, is tough. To make matters worse, the Marines are obliged by higher-ups to avoid a sectarian PR disaster by respecting holy sites on the battlefield...more respect than the bad guys cynically using this to their advantage.
