The first movement from my First Clarinet Concerto. I really like this piece, especially from the cadenza to the ending, but I do like all of it. Please do listen to all the piece and tell me your opinion as I am thinking of entering this piece in a composition competition, but I would like to know people's views before I do so.
I completed the whole concerto in 4 days of non - stop hard work. I knew from the beggining that I would dedicate this piece to Antionette. She is one of my best friends on youtube, so she is the dedicatee. Please do visit her channel at EttasFavourites.

The orchestration is: Solo Clarinet, Horns, Timpani and Strings.

  • Very very beautiful, unbelievable, what a great composition!!

I am very moved, and hope sincerely that the time this can be performed by a symphony orchestra will be there soon.

    Send it to Martin Fröst!

    He is my favourite.

Thank you, dearest Daniel, for the great honour by dedicating this to me....

  • I am glad you enjoyed it! I don't think it is good enough to be sent to Martin Frost! I love his playing as well! I am presenting it to a few local orchestras soon. Maybe they will agree to playing it! Please listen to the Intermezzo, I think you will love it!

  • If you enter the competition will you be able to play it with a real orchestra?

  • If the adjudicator thinks it is good enough, he might suggest it as a programme for a local orchestra. I'm not sure though!

  • Your composition is really really good!! Composing for 4 days non stop, now that shure is motivation! I wish I had your motivation. I like the part after 2:27, the build up is amazing! 4:25 onwards is amazing! I like that dark feel, epic sounds. I hear some influence from other composers in your piece, some Rachmaninov, and also some Pachelbel funny enough! Great ending!

I can't wait to hear the rest of the piece!!

  • I am glad you enjoyed it, Reuben! The bits that you pointed out are probably my favourite bits from the movement as well! I am going to post the Intermezzo now, I hope you will like it!

  • I just across this by luck, and boy am I glad I did!! I love how you introduce so many different themes across each other without over developing any single one of them, it gives it a really frantic, almost Mahlerian feel. Keep up the great work, I look forward to hearing more of your works!

  • well composed thanks.

  • Remarkable and astounding - both you and your music, Daniel!

  • Job well done!

The theme is really catchy x3 I hope you can get a real orchestra to record this, some of the synth bits are really annoying, and I think it would sound even better with more dynamics.

    The ending is cute haha

  • Not bad for a 12 years old boy! I see here a great talent!

Enjoy my compliments but don't stop to work hard!

  • This extraordinary movement, I loved it. you have more work? I found it very well composed!

  • This is an extraordinary composition & you completed this in 4 days!! Very original & nice contrasting moods!

  • I hope I can play some of my compotions! I take both a composition class and a conducting class! It soo fun! :-D Music forever (L)
