HUGE height. Tonya had some great stuff in her skating-if only she had had the right people around her to channel it.

I didn't know it was possible to achieve that height. If she could rotate faster, quad/quint axels would be easy for her..

i love the old style axel.. the delay of rotation and height makes them look so graceful. Tonya is an absolutely, amazingly talented skater by making it a triple! i think her jump looks so much nicer than the modern day triple axel and that she could also quite easily land a quad

@s612h it's one of those small details. But even an amateur can spot when a jump, particularly a triple axel, is cheated in the rotation. Not to mention rotated so much lower to the ice!

I read a Sports Illustrated article in 1991 and Tonya had talked about how her Dad and her would go camping and chop wood for cooking etc.She had gotten the upper arm strength from the wood chopping.It was amazing she could do the jumps with her asthma too.
