How I decorate one of my rat cages. Please note that I rotate toys regularly so they don't get bored.
Please also note that I dont feed my rats out of a bowl, I feed them in toys or scatter on the cage floor as it keeps their brains' active and scattering encourages natural foraging behaiours. Dont think that just because i didnt metion a food bowl in the video that im being cruel and not feeding them or anything like that.
Subscribe to Dislobell for tips and ideas on homemade rat toys as keeping them entertained does not have to be expensive.
Remember Rats need time out of the cage everyday.

  • How big is that cage? Actually one nest box is fine :)

And i don't do wooden gnaw things :P

  • @ThaRatChick this cage is 28.5 x 34.5 x 20 inches and I have 2 boys in there. I always recommend more than one nest box as rats are like people and sometimes they want to be on their own. If they cant be by themselves when they want to be then this could result in fighting.

Rats really do need wooden things to gnaw on. They are rodents and rodents teeth grow continuously, they can end up with serious problems if they dont have anything to gnaw on to keep them the right length.

  • thxx :)

  • I have (finally) uploaded the video about toys, I have posted it as a video response. Hope it helps :)

  • Oh yeah, I do recommend other toys, I just havent mentioned them on the video as it was just about homemade toys

  • hi i have 2 boys and i was wondering if you recommend any other toys

  • Im currently making a video about rat toys, its not quite finished yet but I'll post it as a video response to this and let you know when its done :)

  • @drtyprplpandapws Of course multiple nesting areas are best. So are multiple toys. But there isn't a medical necessity for chew toys, because they grind them down naturally. IS WEIRD RESPONDING TO YEAR OLD CONVERSATION

  • @ThaRatChick ???? multiple nesting areas is best, and they need stuff to chew on. NEED. so maybe you should do "wooden gnaw things"

  • whats the name of the cage?

  • @tomastomas11 I made the other comments on this video like a year ago.

  • @ThaRatChick lol

  • @tomastomas11 lmao

  • @ThaRatChick ur a fuckin moron

  • @chinwag99 my rats love anything i give them to chew. i guess it depends on the rat. and also it depends on the kind of wood u get. not all wood will splinter

  • @Dislobell Rats don't really need things to gnaw on, they are constantly grinding and chattering their teeth to keep them down. Wood can splinter, and besides, my rats completely ignore anything i give them to chew.
