Anti-fur demo outside Music House in Moscow

October 27th 2005, Moscow. The "Fur Olympus" awards ceremony, which is held in Moscow International Performance Arts Center (MIRAC), aroused the protest of animal rights protection activists. Members of the Alliance for Animals Rights and representatives of some other organizations came to the central entrance of the MIRAC and opened their banners right before the beginning of the ceremony, shouting out slogans.

The banners had the following slogans: "Fur Olympus - mount of corpses!", "Music doesn't live here anymore!", "House of Music: inspiration exchanged for fur!". The activists shouted out "Fur is murder!", "Wear fur - kill alive!", "Leave fur to animals!", "Fur Olympus - blood Olympus!", "Murderers are not welcome here!".

"The idea of carrying out the "Fur Olympus" in the House of Music is absurd from the very beginning. It is like carrying out the "Best butcher" or the "Best sausage" awards within the precincts of it", - the Alliance for Animal Rights representative, is explained - "Today a place, which is supposed to serve the culture progress, is turned into fur animals' cemetery. The "Fur Olympus" is just a "Mountain of corpses". This is what we associate with the name of the awards ceremony. Blood and violence have nothing to do with the development of positive thinking for the modern human".

to snobak1, stop spreading your BS propaganda. PETA spends millions to protect animals and those who attack them with their lies and propaganda do so because they profit from animal cruelty. These industries are running a propaganda smear campaign against PETA to distort the truth, why? Because PETA are exposing their cruelty for money & greed. What a bunch of hypocrites they are and those spreading this propaganda are either gullible or just as evil.

it was not peta's demonstration. It was a demonstration against brutal killing of sentient beings for their fur. It was held by russian young people who understand that animals just like people feel pain, can suffer and that they are defensless against us, people.

There were no threats from the demonstrators at all - just sharing of the truth (which many don't want to know) behind fur industry and appeal not to support it.

I have a question for you, I wonder why any one would support any thing related to peta due to the fact that they are known to KILL animals themselves,threaten innocent people.
