@bigbird540 The maintenance is less with the Surface Drives than the shafts and rudders. Fitments is also simper as there is no shaft alignments to deal with and no need to make motor adjustment to make fitments correct.

The advantages are an extra 5 knots and a rooster tail behind your boat ....... Disadvantages are they are much more expencive to fit and maintain
