It's sometimes possible to recognize when you've recently contracted HIV from signs and symptoms such as fever, rash, or swollen lymph nodes. This video will teach you how to recognize signs and symptoms of primary HIV infection that are experienced by between 40 and 90% of individuals after they are first infected with HIV. Primary HIV infection occurs during the first few weeks or months after a person first becomes infected with HIV. Symptoms include rash and/or fevers, possibly in combination with one or more of the following symptoms: malaise (which is a general feeling of weakness, discomfort, and fatigue), loss of appetite, weight loss, a sore throat, sores in the mouth, joint or muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, diarrhea, fatigue, night sweats, nausea and vomiting, headache, or genital sores. The symptoms usually last from seven to ten days, and rarely more than two weeks. There is an incubation period of a few days to a few weeks between when the person was exposed to HIV and when the symptoms begin. If you have any of these symptoms and think there's even the slightest chance you might have been exposed to HIV, such as through recent sexual activity or sharing a needle, even with someone who you believe is HIV negative, you should see a doctor and ask to be tested for HIV. When you go to the doctor with any of these symptoms, it's very important to mention any risk factors you may have for HIV so they could test you. If you have ever had unprotected sex, even once, have used injection drugs, or think you might be experiencing primary HIV infection, make sure to tell your doctor. Guys this is BULLSHIT, only 10% of primary infected people get this kind of symtoms, dont trust this shit, read oficial goverment pages, this is A LIE. The only known studies of "probability" of getting aids: if u fuck a girl via vagina, u get 1/100.000 of get vih..
Actually, we based this on "official government" documents; CDC MMWR is one of our cited sources. 10% only the low end of the range for the official CDC estimate of the % of people who get symptoms of primary HIV. "Of the 40,000 persons who acquire HIV infection each year, an estimated 40%--90% will experience symptoms of acute HIV infection." [Bernard Branson, et al., "Revised Recommendations for HIV Testing ...." MMWR Recommendations and Reports, 22 Sept 06, 55(RR14); 1-17.]
Also, your risk estimate to a man from vaginal intercourse is way too low. Actual risk to a man of contracting HIV from unprotected vaginal sex is estimated to be 1 in 2000, not 1 in 100,000, per occurrence. See our vid "Some Ways You Can Contract HIV and the Risk of Each One" for details and source citations.
well, just take a look at red cross spanish web page (from SPAIN) and they say only 10% of recently infected people show those synthoms.. 1/2000? actually, i think thats not true, cos patients lie, and its imposible to do a serious study of that... There is no study in which medics take a free hiv person and an infected one, and get them both to have sex, so they can come with a % of infection risk ¬¬ common sense
Whatever web page you're referring to is oversimplifying the question. It's not "exactly 10%" of people infected with HIV who get symptoms; we don't know the precise percentage to be sure; our best estimate is a range of 10-40% of infected people getting symptoms. (CDC) So that web page should have said "As few as 10% of infected people may have symptoms of primary HIV infection."
You are correct that no one does human studies telling people to have unprotected sex and measuring the infection rate; that would indeed be unethical. But there are other ways to study and estimate risk of transmission for various sexual practices. See the original studies cited in our videos (and the studies they cite) for details. Stop assuming you know or can recognize the transmission risk rate; you obviously don't and can't. Read the original scientific studies to learn more.
I was with someone 3 months ago, (they were a heavy smoker, and had a cough. A few days after I had a sore throat for about a week. A week or two later I had the flu. They after that after Halloween I got strep throat) They tested negative before I was with them, and they test negative again 3 months later. They get tested regularly every 3 months. Could I be infected if they have tested negative since before and after I've been with them?
This is Eric; I'm not a doctor. See our videos "Some Ways You Can Contract HIV and the Risk of Each One" and "What's the Risk I've Contracted HIV?" There is always some risk of HIV transmission in oral, vaginal, or anal sex. Get tested for HIV and follow your doctor's instructions for any follow-up testing.
