So i bought this Appalachian dulcimer and then realised it can't be swapped around for a lefty like me. I also couldn't find any chord books so i had to guess, and it kept sliding off my knee so i wound up playing it like so. Anyway, this is one of two songs i wrote for a friend with whom i crossed roads on many fleeting occasions. Sad to know he'll never hear it so you'll have to listen twice as hard. I was called in to cover sickness at work five minutes before recording so apologies if I appear distracted.
Make good use of your feet and let them carry you
Doesn't matter where you go as long as you're gone
Open your throat to the sky if you can carry a tune
Doesn't matter what you sing if it's your own song
Steal a march on the deamons that would devour you
For your freedom you must fight not to have it all
Brother of the road won't you watch over me
Save a place for me in heaven if I should fall
I turned my collar to the comfort of the sleeping herd
Took my guitar as protection for my soul
My memory will live on in melodies and words
Ill burn my bridges if i need to fight off the cold
A prayer to any god who may be listening now
Don't judge too harsh, I've not killed as i recall
Brother of the road won't you watch over me
Save a place for me in heaven if I should fall
wat is the instrument that you are playing called???
good song and thanks for the love on one of my song.

Hi, glad you like the song. The instrument is an Appalachian Dulcimer, normally played flat across the knees, sometimes frettied with a stick. It being right handed and me being left, i wind up playing it like a car crash!

Brother, save me a place... tune me up something stringed and we can then play together.Very nice tune.

Indeed! we all need a place somewhere, if only to give us somewhere to leave. Thanks
