@joshrain1 there is to imagen you are dead... to imagen and think nothing... ie you lie down imagen you are dead.... and then do not think just obserbe... see what happens... this could show you death but then this could also just be an illision of your thoughs... that is why you would have to have no thougs and just observe.
-
what if everyone stoped or close to everyone stoped & meditated till something happened... the aim is to think of nothing... the pure aim is to think of nothing... everyone... to see what happened... no nothing no sorrow no anger no envy... nothingness, everyone trying to reach nothingness... there is no why or how or what... just what is... surelly, would this not be a big enough... this would mean everyone was trying to see the stream at the same time & therefor all would be out of the stream

...where does this leave me? i knew i wasn't special before, reading these, i come to know that there are thousands of people like myself, watch your thought process, as others, your thinking is just like theirs. the only way, the only thing left is to separate from the river, the only thing left to do is be aware, and with pure insight, die to the former, and witness existence in it's entirety.
-
looking at comments, i find how to die to my former "self in the 'stream'". comments. everyone on particular paths, learning from others how to interpret universal feelings, experiences...

No words......
language is limited. K has gone beyond it, but is trying help nudge others along.

total freedom: nothing and everything. To be attentive, is to be aware of everything without the self, no center, you have to feel that shit yo. I love his pauses and the ignorance of people to question or talk rather than to feel to experience no one does it. It's beautiful.

The old buddhist monk is a pain in the *ss. K talked slowly just to prepare the atmosphere. But he jumped in so much with his thoughts, knowledge so many times which probably ruined the moments that might be helpful to others attending and following K's talk. The monk can't learn. He won't be able to be a buddhist monk in the sense of learning zen directly with somebody who is enlightened.

Let us look at our consciousness. What we come across is the 'content of consciousness' which we know as 'me'. This 'content of consciousness', which is made up of thought, has a continuity beyond the death of the body. That is 'rebirth'.
That is why 'SELF KNOWLEDGE' is so important. Moment you know yourself you are out of the stream of sorrow.

when he says you are free from the river. what happens to the consciousness who leaves the river and is awakened? how is the death of the person that is in the river vs out of the river? does it manifest itself next time from birth as awakened? or is it simply that consciousness from the river is removed?

... Consciousness is its content. When it ends its content then there is space. The "River" is the process as the I, and all other I's in a sea of consciousness in the limitation of action and reaction. Consciousness removed from the river is freedom from that, a state of infinity, eternity not understood by limited consciuosness, it has to be explored by each person, a description will reduce it to a concept, so it brings it back to us intellectualising, limiting it in our thought process.

so if we are still in the river then we manifest ourselves over and over again till we are able to get out of the river. once, someone is able to get out of the river (eg: k, osho, masters, etc). when they leave their body you say its space. but don't they manifest themselves? for eg: some master might say i am an avatar. i am trying to understand the birth cycle. how does a soul in the river choose their body vs a realized soul choose their body/birth.

We have to work on ourselves, trying to understand it according other "ideas" is in the field of the known. We crave immortality in the "known".
The "Unknown Infinite" cannot be comprehended by the "Finite" mind.
As previously said - a description will reduce it to a concept, so it brings it back to us intellectualising, limiting it in our thought process, ego, expectation, caught in time. So, it is up to all of of us to work this out individually, and explore it in our personal lives.

thanks. so how should one go about exploring? where do you start from? and what must one do? do you have any techniques?
joshrain1 3 years ago
Hi josh, sorry, there are no techniques or methods, it is a matter of looking at our own selves. There are gurus and self made teachers out there who will happily give methods to people to reinforce their particular illusions. If you study K's teaching you'll know what I mean.
Take care,
Best Wishes,
Andrew.
