The British government is trying to clamp down on the countrys binge drinking problem just five years after they gave the go-ahead for 24 hour drinking licenses. But critics say responsible drinkers on low incomes would be hit the hardest by the new restrictions.

  • you're no gonna stop binge drinking by increasing the prices...young people will always find a way to get fucked up...

  • @whatyouchating If they are supposedly drinking more responsibly, their alcohol consumption on average, would be significantly less than those who binge drink. Likewise their tax burden will be lower, hence a tax increase on alcohol would not affect them that much. So why would they have to pay more? Probably it would make pubs and streets safer and more comfortable. Moreover, why would people complain about a mere tax rise in alcohol when it used your money to save the financial institution?
