***UPDATE***
I just figured out a totally easier way to create the automation without recording.
1. Right click on whatever you want automation of (tempo, pitch, volume, etc.)
2. Select "create an automation clip" from tab
3. Click top area of playlist to place it then make adjustments using the left or right click depending on what you are trying to do


Here are the steps to mix your beat like a DJ without actually being.....a DJ. Hope it was helpful :)
