Kenny Smith trashes "a non-rebounding 7 footer" (Dirk)

Coming back from a commercial, Kenny Smith can be heard joking about "a non-rebounding 7 footer".

This comment was made during the Saturday, February 16th, 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend 3 Point shootout.

Coming out of the commercial, Smith makes reference to "a non-rebounding 7 footer" and laughs. This occured right before 7 foot tall Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki took his turn in the contest.

first of all, kenny comes from a time where 7 foot starters were much less common, so they were expected to get a buttload of boards. so if he IS complaining about dirk, he's really just sounding like an old guy who doesn't get that the game has changed since his time. (nowitzki being a big part in why)

second of all, dirk, over his career, averages over 8.5 boards. he doesn't play five. when he did play five he averaged 9.9 (and a couple of blocks). how is 8.5 boards for a PF "non-rebounding"?

Who the fuck is Kenny Smith? I live in Houston and he sucked here. In the playoffs, Cassell took his starting spot as a rookie, that's a fact, look it up. He was a point guard who was a non-assisting jackman. How many rings would he have if it weren't for Hakeem and Cassell and Horry hitting clutch shots????
