  • Hi

How long I can leave dimo on flute? Can I leave it on flute while rip or is better remove after every playing?

    Thanks

  • Let it rip!

  • Can you find dimo paper in American music shops? I bought a cheap dizi flute from the internet and am not sure if I would have to purchase dimo from there as well or substitute something else.

  • Hi,

You can purchase dimo from our online store as well. The URL is in the video description.

    Thanks,

    Sung Wah

  • he's using a dizi made by xie bin.

  • if i don't have the correct and original membrane, what other (common) material should i look for in order to repair the dimo?

    thanks!

  • You can buy the dimo(membrane) and the piece of glue like substance from our online store. Just google 'Eason Enterprises'.

    Thanks.

  • I have the flute, and the membrane(dimo?) but no glue... where can I find some? Or what can I use instead?

  • it's D i guess, because the lowest note is A.

  • does anyone know the name of that tune the man played?

  • The real dimo is about 0.005 mm, that is about 0.0002" thick. Other membranes are typically far thicker. (Even cigarette paper is about 4 times thicker)

These other membranes are just too stiff to respond appropriately to the very small fluctuations in air pressure in the air column under the dimo.

  • The white glue in a lipstick container, used for stationery works pretty well.

  • Well, i cut and glue a choclate confectionery paper and it resonate sweet woody tone ☺☼♥♫ and much better than ducktape.. dimo is not available at my place :P

  • I must say I am quite intrigued and love this sound.

Where is the best place to aquire the adhesive for the Dimo?

  • I recommend ordering real erjiao and dimo online. Ive never used anything but the dimo. Scotch tape once, but there was a simple xiao-like tone.

I'm pretty sure that everything else can yield a wierd tone. For the authentic, dizi tone, you have to have the dimo.

I'm no pro, but a lot of research, practice, and patient self-teaching will get you to a satisfactory level :D

  • garlic juice? some sites I looked on said that's what used to be used.

  • So my Dizi arrived today with a pack of membranes...but no Erjiao! is there an alternative? I live in Australia so I would think locating the real stuff is going to be hard over here :(
