3:22 at this time, Chaplin could have some good memories of the city when horses were in the streets as the only way to move, when some streets didn't have roads, and then when the first old cars appeared as innovative things.

When my mom starts talking of the past,it always starts off with 'we were poor back then,we were all poor back then'.Most areas people didnt even have shoes and when they were available some still didnt use them.Charlie seen alot of this first hand and i think brought alot of humility to him especially during the tramp years.But the people accepted him as one of their own.He will never be forgotten

@JamesTKirkCobain Agree. Probably one of the most blatant injustices ever. The whole movie industry has Charlie Chaplin to thank for where it is today. More so in 1952 as today. And how do they thank him? By deporting him from their shores.

The USA really screwed this guy....He made movies that gave immigrants and people living through the depression an escape from the hell they lived through everyday, and the US thanks him by saying, F you, your a commie.
