Altered State Park

This is the first five minutes of the Altered State Park DVD. It's a silent three hour loop of more than 2,000 computer-generated collages.

The idea isn't to watch it straight through like a movie, but to have it running as part of the environment, possibly at a party. The TV becomes an art object, like a painting that's different every time you look at it.

I drew the visual elements in ArtRage, and wrote the software that composes the images in Processing. It uses a mix of rules, randomness, and Perlin noise. The images on the DVD were selected from tens of thousands of randomly-generated originals.
