@JLepsch it is not just a need to change things there are different versions of swanlake - this comes largely from its fairly haphazard creation John Cranko once said that Nobody does the whole of swanlake because if one were to play all the music ever written for it, you would be sitting in the theatre for five hours - the royal has black swans in the fourth act - and the corps ion the longer tutus was not such a new thing look at swan lakes from out side Russia from the 50's and 60's

Polina's amazingness aside, I wonder why the companies feel the need to change anything in Swan Lake. I mean, Kirov put black swans on the fourth act, Bolshoi has an entirely different solo for the black swan, the Royal put the corps de ballet in romantic tutus, Zurich's have almost no scenery... I don't think there's any need to change anything so perfect as the original Swan Lake is.
