historian Iskander Amal and historian and teacher Johnny Mansur talked in the Symposium
The symposium was held in memory of Emile Touma was born in Haifa. He was a national leader and a communist, an Intellectual, historian and a politician. He was the living spirit behind the foundation of the newspaper Al-Itihad and was its first chief editor. As chief editor of the cultural magazine Al-Jadid, he was engaged in teachingand spreading the Arab and other world cultural legacies. Dr. Touma was
one of the intellectuals who shaped the political and social thoughts of the
Palestinian population in Israel, and worked on maintaining their unity and
their continuous stay in their homeland. He wrote over 15 books dealing
with the Arab world and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and published many
articles on different themes. Dr. E. Touma devoted his entire life and work for a peaceful and just solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
