All material used in the pellet mill must first be processed by a wood chipper, shredder or hammer mill to produce small consistent sized particles. It is based on the ring die pellet mill design, not the flat die pellet press design of most other small pellet machines. This pellet maker replicates the process of making pellets seen in the industrial process. The materials that can be processed include wood, paper, cardboard, straws and various grasses including hemp, switchgrass and miscanthus. The press features a material hopper with a variable speed auger to precisely control the rate of speed and eliminate manual feeding. The pellet machine also features a conditioner, which effectively mixes the material constantly until the material enters the die and rollers. Each pellet mill is custom made here in the UK to the customer's material requirements. We produce die templates in low, medium and high compression ratios to suit different materials. The pellet mill die templates also come with different hole diameters and tapered hole inlets and outlets. This pellet press can produce premium grade high density wood pellets unlike most other small wood pellet machines. It is predominantly used for research purposes or low volume production of high value pellets, such as custom animal and bird feeds. This could include chicken feed such as layers/growers pellets. This pellet maker comes in either a single phase or three phase power option. Therefore it can even be operated within the home from a standard domestic plug socket. Do yo need add water?

The pellet mill needs material with a moisture content below 15%, however it does require a certain amount of moisture for pellet compression. First the material will be processed with no additional water. Then pellet quality will be assessed and the drip feed on the water tank will be increased slowly and pellet quality assessed until up to a sufficient standard.
