the overbet shove is to polarize between the nuts or air, dwan would also do the same with the jack, therefore JC Tran's hand is just a bluffcatcher here. Given this and the structure of the tournament, JC Tran decided he didnt want to risk busting by calling with a bluffcatcher, albeit a very pretty bluffcatcher, when he just needs to not bust first to be in the finals.

is the commentator 10 years old or something?

@canteen222 no you're an idiot. Its not the second nuts, its the 3rd. The nuts would be quad jacks, the 2nd nuts would be A's full of J's. Or AAAJJ. He had the third nuts which was J's full of A's. Or JJJAA.

@ucla198 dude its the 2nd nuts and durr over bet the pot on the river... its a bad fold... quads is every 1 in 23,705 hands.
-
If you have quads you don't go all in... You try and get a call for like 40k...this is just a really crappy fold with second nuts...
-
@canteen222 when so much money is at stake its not easy to play lol

10% good Bluff
90% bad Laydown

yeah, but if tran really knows dwan he should knwo that he bluffs VERY often.
i bet that tran would not lay this hand down on another day
this was clrealy a bad fold... even for a pro!

@lolzim8888 true that chances that he has a jack is very thin, but dwan played it from the beginning like he had a jack and these guys have been beaten by an one outers so many times, if dwan actually had a jack which is very possible u wouldve said it was the best laydown ever. it turned out to be not a good fold but whats great about it is that he has the heart to fold such a hand which i think amatuers like us find it impossible we just throw all our chips in

@Mritsonlyaname Said like someone who hasn't made a single cent playing poker.
How can you get anyone off an ace in that position

Funny thing is that if anyone knew enough about the POINT STRUCTURE in this tournament that JC TRAN just needed to not bust out last place in this heat to secure a spot in the Finals... Given the point structure of this tournament it is a clear and easy fold to anyone who is an indepth poker player and not a casual player.
