My second half comment: The Ladies mush wear white floor lenght ball gowns, and white gloves. The men must wear black tuxedos with tails, and white gloves. The entire ball is a very pretigious event for society. Ball season lasts from jan through the end of February first part of March. And you must be able to Waltz, if you can't don't bother.

They Usually are children of very well to to families around Vienna, an Germany as well. What you area seeing is the rehearsal for the Wiener Ball. The have very strict criteria to meet to be able to do this exposition. Basically it is the entrance dance to this ball done by younger men and women. Adults may join in later in the ball, but the start is marked by the young men and ladies dance intro.

They look rather bored.

some parts of the opernball are quite schön with the young people parading in their finery. The the politians and vaucous celebrities take over and it all becomes rather shallow.
