An Israeli dance company founds a ecologically conscious village to nurture art and creativity without harming the environment.
Israel's Vertigo Dance Company is internationally acclaimed for its originality and cutting-edge choreography. It's also known for the socially conscious outlook of its founders, Noa Wertheim and Adi Sha'al.
The women decided to set up their own unique community to nurture art and creativity while engaging with the environment. Vertigo Ecological Arts Village... is located midway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, in the Ela Valley.
An abandoned chicken coop became a mud-brick dance studio, and bedrooms are lit by green electricity and there is no air conditioning. A gray-water system, compost toilets and wind turbine complete the model for alternative living meant to inspire the dancers.
