Churches Against Kadhi Court

A section of leaders of protestant churches are now threatening to scuttle the constitution review process on grounds that their views have been ignored. The group calling itself the Kenya Christian constitution forum also says it is opposed to the inclusion of Kadhis courts in the new constitution saying that matters of religion should be separated from those of the state. Sylvia Chebet reports.

@daisyao good that you realized that. Margatet Wanjiru is just seeking publicity. We have lived harmoniously since time immemorial. Kadhis courts have been in the constitution since independence. Infact nobody notices their presence because they are not a threat to national security. I support you. We should be let to live in peace. Some people arguing against the courts, know nothing about how they operate. They are just driven by petty emotions!

they are not blackmailing anyone...

they are also Kenyans who have the freedom of worship..all I am saying that these Kadhi courts should be subordinate to the secular courts...such that if you are unsatisfied with the kadhi one..you can us the secualr law..

..Kenya/Africa is not only for xtians brother..and the thing is we do have traditional courts already in Kenya..but I am not sure about the canonical courts..the equivalent of kadhi courts for Xtians
