they're not lip synching...they're singing with with a track that has the background vocals because that's what Chris does in his shows. He has tons of dancers onstagein his show, but no other singers. When Rihanna does her show, she uses a live band and live background singers. Having the recorded background vocals allows him the freedom to improvise, if he wants to.
This was their last night together before she returned to the US for the inauguation. Looks like they were having fun.

Chris doesn't sing all of the song...on most songs in his show, but he does sing live. Rihanna does the same thing. They break and come back in throughout the songs. The difference is that when Rihanna stops, in her show, the voices that are still heard are live performers. In Chris' show, when he stops to take a breath, you hear recorded background voices.
