It's been a year today, November 11th 2009 that Taylor Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in the US. In its first week of being released in 2008 Fearless sold a massive 592,304 copies, 217,000 of which were sold on the first DAY!! It spent a total of 11 weeks at number 1 on the billboard 200 chart and a huge 40 weeks in the top 10 making Fearless the 7th longest-running number 1 album by a female artist in Billboard 200 history. Fearless is now a 5X Platinum Album, selling over 5 million copies.
Taylor solely wrote 7 out of the 13 songs on Fearless and co-wrote the remaining 6 tracks. She writes about personal life experiences she encounters and her fans can relate to them and I believe it's the easy relation between her lyrics and situations listeners experience that has made Fearless such a huge success, which brings me to her Fearless Tour. Her SOLD OUT 63 city and 4 country tour! She sold out Madison Square Garden in ONE MINUTE, that's 60 seconds. What?! That's unbelievable! :O
The amazing success the Fearless Tour has been will continue as Taylor has extended the tour into 2010, hitting a few more cities in the US and returning to Australia.
Fearless made Taylor Swift the Best Selling Artist of 2008 and it was the number one Best Selling Country Artist of 2008-2009. Taylor Swift's success and popularity has won her countless awards and nominations and got her nominated for the CMA Entertainer Of The Year Award which is decided upon the artist's recorded performance, in-person performance, staging, public acceptance, attitude, leadership and overall contribution to the country music image. In my opinion Taylor has that award in the bag, but we'll have to wait and see...
"I think you have to do the work and put in the effort and do the touring that it takes to win entertainer of the year..." she said in an interview with The Associated Press.
She's put loads of effort in and she definitely deserves it. We'll find out tonight if she wins. She's nominated for I believe four awards in total, Female Vocalist Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Music Video Of The Year and of course Entertainer Of The Year. So we'll see how she gets on with those. I'm sure no matter how the evening turns out she won't walk away empty handed. *touchwood* lol
