@cockercane How about a rain catchment system and use a ceramic water filter to purify it.

@timcosrte There is but there is no way I can type everything in this little box. I will have to make a video so I can share things easier than typing. A picture is worth a 1000 words.

What do you suggest for us living in colder climates? Storing water in containers isn't really an option because it freezes. I have an unused well as well as a lake 2 minutes away by foot but it's still a lot of work to haul back significant amounts of water, which has to be filtered. Obviously there is also the option of melting snow, but that's not exactly a ready and convenient supply.

@or2169 Get out of the city. You'll have alot better % to survive. because desiese wont affect you and there wont be 1 milion hungry people next dor ;D

I absolutely love this system, I live on a semi rural edge of suburbia and use well water, I'm always jealous of my neighbors during power outages, this system is really useful well before shtf

what type of disaster do you prep for
Is a pond a workable backup plan. We have about a two acre lake in our backyard, stocked with catfish and bluegill. How difficult would it be to make it safe to drink? I just always assumed I could boil it or filter it and everything would be ok. Am I wrong about this? It gets good flow and has a feeder river that is almost always running. Not the clearest water, but I know it is fresh runoff for the most part. Anyone who knows, please respond. Rural area, no sewage or pesticides.

First thanks for all the videos and useful tips and ideas, I have a lake behind my house in a wrol or shtf do you think its possible hell I'm not sure if there even is such a hand pump but if there is is it possible to run a garden hose connected to a hand pump and get water to my house that way? The lakes about 150 to 200 feet from the house and id say about a 20 foot incline.

@SJPrepper0569 the only problem is you would need to purify the water before you use it but you could pump it up to a tank then purify it and bring it into the house.
