Plus, as this movie conveys, if you have a society built off of surrogates a single event, say an E.M.P. blast or a surrogate system glitch then thats billions of dollars and technology lost, plus it could be lethal. We would lose all of our armed forces, both foreign and domestic simultaniously too! It cant last!

i really wish that i could have my own surrogate at home..xDD

Would you not like to jump 1/2 a mile high, run 25 miles an hour, Sleep with all the beautiful people you want with out committing adultery and have it feel real except for pain? It would only cost you your ability to connect with people on a personal level. Plus you might die from bed sores or hart attack.

Well, an EMP device is what the movie is about. These aren't autonomus androids. They are remote-controlled robotic vehicles looking like people.

We HAVE most of the technology. What we still miss as of 2009 is a good enough battery to keep a body going for a full day, the neural connection to control the device with your brain and get feedback from its senses directly into your own, as well as a virtual reality headset that actually emerges you (think flexible LCDs).
