This was a quick open KDFW experimented with. KDFW has an edge over KXAS, WFAA and KTVT: that it can go directly from closing its 9pm newshour to opening it's 10pm news commerial-free. This gives KDFW a HUGE advantage. Most nights, KDFW is already a minute to a minute and a half into their top story live shot, while the other stations (especially KTVT and notoriously last, KXAS) are rolling the news open animations.
