Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung believed that dreams were windows into the unconscious, but many scientists now believe they may have no deeper meaning.

  • But how would a dream about flying hipos relate to the memories of my day??

  • Dreams are the result of DMT being released in your brain while you sleep, you're basically tripping balls while you sleep.

  • This girl is a dumb bitch. Ever heard of Lucid dreaming? It's where you realize you're dreaming. Fuck you. Yeah. Flying is a reenactment of the other day. Makes PERFECT sense.

Bitch doesn't know what she is talking about.

  • @TheUnforgivent well...wow how can you say ocean of bullshit without even knowing what dmt stands for?!?!?!? by the way is Dimethyltryptamine.

Study and then get a license for comment non ignorant people! thx

  • @fountainherz I don't believe that there is necessarily any problem solving going on or that there is any communication from the unconscious like in the way that you and I are communicating. It's just that the symbolism imo is representative of unfiltered experiences we have unconsciously and dreams allow us to better understand our unconscious experience. And I agree that dream dictionaries are bull, but there are some things that are pretty universal in my (and my therapist's) experience.

  • @blapgatify

Well the issue is being presented as a black-or-white dichotomy; what if it's actually both? As other people have pointed out DMT release gives more of a meaningless effect but it may be possible that some dreams are our subconscious trying to solve problems. Like you I'm a skeptic but I do think only the dreamer can interpret their own dreams and applying the field to everyone ("dreaming a pink bird = X for everyone") is nonsense.

  • In other words you don't know what you are talking about.

  • I understand what you mean but what if when a person dreams they feel like they see the future.I've had this happen to me since i was 4 and I am only 14. I don't know what it means but in my dreams I see things in my daily life that never happened yet.I had a dream were my grandpa and I had a conversation, the next day in the afternoon we had that exact conversation. If you know any information about this it would help to know what it is.

  • Under every example she gave, there is still reason to interpret dreams. And for the same reason Jung prescribed. To gain further access to events occurring in the unconscious. All I can give you is anecdotal evidence, but I'm completely convinced that the interpretation of dreams is helpful. I'm far from a mystic. I'm actually a fervent skeptic.

Nothing in this video suggests that dreams are not to be bothered with.

  • my niece at age 5 or 6 said, "Mommy, EVERYTHING has a purpose." I tend to think she's right.
