tool assisted speedrun of sonic 2 (debug+cheat) p.4/4

This is a concept demo, showing what a sonic 2 tas might look like, turning into super sonic at will. Therefore I activated the level select cheat, debug mode and the supersonic cheat. At the beginning of each stage, I give tails 50 rings and transform afterwards.
This skips completing the time consuming bonus stages for the emeralds.

Don't expect too much though. I didn't use the precision, that nitsuja used in his normal run (and copied many strategies poorly). Additional the handling of SS is a little weird and limited, not adding as much speed to the tas as one might think.


It's also more a playing around run, not submission material.

i have this game i got all seven emeralds but he stopped turning into ss for awhile how do i make him stay at ss even when i have over 50 rings

I probably didn't understand your question, but in order to turn into supersonic you need to get all emeralds, collect at least 50 rings in a stage and jump. You will constantly lose 1 ring per second and turn to normal, when you run out of rings. The process can't be saved. So you have to collect the emeralds each time you restart the game. I recommend reading at gamefaqs. In this run however, I used the ss cheat.

I understand, my video is misleading. In this tas I used a cheat, that gave me the super sonic ability right away (see gamefaqs for further info). The game itself does not have any save features. Thus, you have to collect the emeralds each time again when you play in through. Sonic 3, however does have a save feature. It will save your progress and as a result your collected emeralds, too.

You mean after you beat the game after you got all emeralds, he doesn't turn super when you start over? That's because the emeralds reset when you play a new game.
