Performance at the 2007 Smithsonian Folklife Festival featuring Mekong Delta Cultures. Hanuman (the monkey warrior and son of the wind god) orders his soldiers to build a stone bridge to link the island Langka to the mainland, in order to rescue Princess Neang Seda who is being held captive there. Hanuman then learns that mermaids have been sabotaging the bridge's construction by removing the boulders. Angered by this, he decides to capture the mermaid princess Neang Machha but instead falls deeply in love with her. The two eventually pair off and Neang Machha and her mermaid army stop interfering with Hanuman's project. (go to http://students.ou.edu/C/Amy.J.Copeland-1/Hanuman.html for story details)
