Nutcracker at Festival Hill

The legendary ballet was presented for the first time ever in the Fayette County, TX in December 2008 at the Festival Concert Hall, Round Top and every year since. It has been advertised as "danced by children for children of any age." We do not pretend presenting ballet stars! Young dancers are mostly from Austin (Dancers Workshop.) Some children from the Round Top area have been added in the 2011 production. As a matter of fact, Round Top Festival Institute has opened a Dance Institute in the Fall of 2010 under the guidance of Libby Lovejoy, a professionally trained ballet dancer, and more than 60 children have enrolled! It is quite an incredible story.

We again sold out the 1,000 seats of the Festival Concert Hall. According to our records, we had some attendants from the states of Washington, California, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania!

After the performance, the staff at Menke House invited the public to join them as they transported them to the Sugar Plum Fairy's "Kingdom of Sweets."
