wow your D-42 has D-45 inlays! what gauge strings do you use?

I use Elixir 11-52 strings on all my guitars. I don't own this one any more - I part-exed it for the Andy Manson Jumbo you can see me playing in other videos.

Easy to do really - put the guitar in Open D tuning (DADF#AD) and use the barre plus string 5 2 frets above the barre for the 'vamp' and use an Dm shape across the strings for the high bits. You can do that.
