Get ready.

@grabit1: Uh... yes you do. How to scrounge up enough money to buy them & eat them.

In a movie loaded with great speeches. But many of those speeches are being co-opted now 70 years later, for a new generation of John Does. I think this is Capra's greatest film, a "failure" then that's needed 70 years to be understood. I just hope it's not stolen again by our new D.B. Nortons.

But at least if you are broke, you don't have worry about door dings, or salads, or cupcakes, or tea.
-
@robynsegg: He has a point about the "heelots" but I'm sorry, IT'S NO FUN BEING BROKE! I'd rather put up w/ the heelots then to be sitting around begging random strangers to help me provide my next meal while laying around in my own filth. I'm sorry, but there's just no freedom in that. Let's face it... whether you are flat broke or have the riches of a king, there is always SOMETHING to worry about!

Walter Brenon plays the part of a freestater!
This is the BEST movie to show what is going on today in 2010.

such a great movie

There's another Capra picture called Mister Deeds Goes to Town. Someone made a new version for people of this generation called "Mr. Deed$"
Simply remaking a movie does not reproduce its values or quality. The movie must be rereleased, quite simply, in a digitally restored colorized version.
I know that colorization will ruin Capra's chiaroscuro effects, but it's a small price to pay to prevent Adam Schneider and Rob Sandler from getting their heellot claws around its fragile, pulsing neck.

And now months later, I'll say it again.
The heelots are preventing this movie from being where it should be.
And not just this scene..

What's really sad is that this movie looks better in its posted YouTube clips than any DVD or VHS release available. It's crying out to be restored.
Let's get the John Does together in a national movement and bring this film back to where it belongs.
One of the greatest speeches in film history.
