Just pull Audacity off the internet, then yeah, just run the output through the microphone port of your computer. Hope this helps.

The kit suits me fine because I only muck around. If you're going to be serious, you should maybe listen to all the other comments I've gotten that go something like, 'what the hell are you doing, go get a real kit'. It's probably good advice.
