  • It looks like the area near the lobby to me.

  • "In fact, I was at a party in this room a few years ago."

Ahh, ok.. but did it definately have such a high ceiling, with the glass windows up high showing the second level/storey??

I've found countless images on Google in all the hours i've spent searching for this location, but none that show such a high ceiling'ed room with the windows up above where people could look down from the floor above.

  • That's correct. It's been a number of hotels, but during this time, it was the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Now it's the Hilton Memphis (the big circular hotel). Just google image Hilton Memphis.

In fact, I was at a party in this room a few years ago.

  • Then apparently it was took over by Hilton in 2004, with a $12 renovation project, but while they were renovating it they named it the "Park Vista", before naming it the "Hilton Memphis".

So according to all that, if that definately WAS the venue of this gig, then in 1989 it may have been called the "Hyatt Regency Hotel" at that perticular time....??

  • Cheers for the info... i've been trying to figure out this venue for a few years now.

Do you know for sure that it's definately the Adam's Mark hotel?

I managed to find some info about it on the net.... here's something i found :

"The hotel was opened as a 'Hyatt Regency' in 1975. In the early 1990s, the hotel was known as Omni Memphis before becoming the 'Adam's Mark' in late 1992."

  • I live in Memphis and that is not the Peabody. It used to be a hotel called the Adam's Mark and they had a bar/stage set up like that. I met Shawn a few times and saw him play quite a bit, he was more amazing in person than he ever could be on the net. But I am glad that he is finally getting some exposure that he never really got, but greatly deserved. So sad that he is gone now.

  • I agree; I really dislike that word, since most of the people it applies to seem to have athletic abilities but are not artists. Shawn, on the other hand was an incredibly great artist.

  • He was endlessly more than a shredder. A genius in all senses of the word.

  • In the Temple of the Guitar Lane is the Shredder of Highest Order!!!

    Amen.

  • lol it sounds like he says there are many here among us.... who feel that lettuce is a joke at around 1:30.
