Poetry Video by Ngwatilo Mawiyoo. Directed by Tom Vandas. With Moby's "Across."
Inspired by the experience of new African immigrants in America; the more universal experience of being away from home, experiencing new things, but struggling to remain connected to the "mother" country and those whom one left behind.
Ngwatilo Mawiyoo is an acclaimed poet and performing artist from Nairobi, Kenya. www.ngwatilo.com.

Nice!
Speak more from the heart and you will be heard
Though you will be open and prone to ridicule from friend and foe, you will pass the heralded message!
Teach the sovereign and tell it far and wide, Kenya......Jambo....the land of simba!

Deep poem, moving and relateable.
I was put off by the American accent - but maybe that was just a tool to express the loss of connectedness to Kenya and your former self...
