@12561111111111111111 Most guys out there are not going to be modifying their diesel trucks to the point you were so the 7.3 PS will last just fine. Mod. for mod., the cummins beats the PS. However I've driven many late 90's PS trucks that outpulled and outlasted cummins equipped trucks of the same era. I'm talking about stock farm trucks. The early 5.9 and 7.3 PS's are both great engines. The E40D is better than the junk a518 Dodge was using.
@DetroitDieselBob I am a die hard ford guy, But the powerstoke does not hang with the cummins. I have had three powerstokes all 7.3 a 1995, 1997 and 2001. 1995 was stock the only problem I had was the high preasure oil pump. The 1997 was cranked way up. problems were high preasure oil pump, THREE e4od auto transmissions and crank shaft position sensor, 2001 lost a computer. I now also drive an old ford with a cummins. In fact I got 3 of them. 1977 standard cab, 1977 crewcab, and a 1978 bronco
I WAS WONDERING WHAT STATE YOU ARE LOCATED IN? I HAVE A 1977 BLUE STANDARD CAB FUMMINS ON HERE AND AM ABOUT DONE WITH A CREWCAB FUMMINS. SAME AS WHAT YOU GOT. I WAS WONDERING WAS THAT A TWO WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK OR DID YOU LENGTHEN THE FRAME FOR THE LONG BOX?
@DetroitDieselBob hey there man i wont dissagree with ya, i believe ya, ive got both motors myself, the powerstroke deffinantly at top end has far more power but that cummins has twice the torque to the feel, and its 7 more mpg, far as reliability havent had a single issue
