Accucraft sells them for around $2700. A lot of money, but way cheaper than other live steam models out there.

Thanks so much, beautiful work! In 1971-73 I fired, robbed and for a short time engineered both #40 and #41. I Now live in Wyoming.Nice to see so many people who love an earlier Knotts as I do. We are lucky to have known it back then.

@tbmccoywesterndesign I'm glad to hear from you. It's even possible you may have robbed me when I was 8 or 9! I also made a live steam model of the #1 Calico mine engine and am working on the wooden mine cars to go with it. I'll post a video whenever I get that finished. I've even collected drawings for "Old Betsy" hoping I can find a suitable chassis to start with. I still go back to Knotts every few years just to see how much of the original ghost town is left.

I like that! very accurate! did you scratchbuild the headlight and smokestack or did you buy them from Accucraft?

@pennyf9
Thanks, I had to work entirely from photographs I could find. The stack, headlight, and pilot are all built from scratch.

@DirtyAbner nice, sorry for not replying, did you paint it also? the scheme looks sharp and clean.

@pennyf9 Yep, paint was tricky because it looks different in every photo, and it changed a little every few years.
