That change with the pink $500 and the purple $250 happened on the syndicated show during the 1987-1988 season about two months after the all-cash format was launched. In the meantime, they were still using the daytime wheel and created a different wheel for the nighttime wheel in order to avoid work on covering all of those smaller dollar amounts on the daytime wheel.
