I remember the first time I had one of these metal spools - I tried to push the film in from the outside, and although it worked, it was bloody hard going.

@tomsmith100 yes once the light safe top is on it is light safe and can be taken out in the light to add chemicals to and process

@jburgie Good tip. I try to do this when I can.

If I have a roll of 36-exposure film but It gave me 46 actual shots will it fit in a metal reel? or is it too long?

@TheOgunmaster I'm surprised you managed to get 46 shots out of a roll, I usually get 40-42 max. The spool is designed to fit an entire 36 exposure roll of film from end to end; so it doesn't matter how many shots you got out it because the entire roll will fit.
Good luck! Hope everything comes out!

how can you tell in the dark that the film is not touching inside the reel ? :DD (4:40)

@adrianpaleacu Obviously you can't. But when you practice loading bad film outside the darkroom you can and it's highly recommended to practice a few times before using good film.

Does this mean the only step you need to do in complete darkness is loading the film onto the reel and placing it in the light free development tank. Once that is done I can use the light safe top to pour dev, fix and then its light safe. Stop after and rinse etc. ???

@tomsmith100 Yes, once the film is loaded into the tank you can turn the lights on. Just be careful NOT to remove the lid of the tank but instead just the cap on the lid until you finish with the Fix.
