Brenda Lee duets with Willy DeVille. DeVille said: "She didn't know who the hell I was. I just called her up, played the song for her, and she loved it. She had her business people check me out, and they reported that I was big in Europe and had been recording for twenty years. So I flew to Nashville [to record with her]... That's got to go down in my book as one of the most memorable experiences in my career."[

  • @starr522 Sorry, that was a confusing read. I have some very good friends who always loved Willie, yet I never gave him a moments thought sines 1982, or so. If he has brought joy to Amerstadam and Europe these past years, bravo. Willie must live in infamy.

    As to Brenda's antics, I reflecting on the experiences of her Nashville-based band & lead guitarist during her later years {? circa 1989 ?}

  • @ChezKiva While I respect your disillusioned opinion, may I ask, " What in the hell are you talking about?" Willy and Brenda never toured together. Ms Lee was 13 when she first toured. She grew up on the road and was no way a prima donna. Willy got a second deal because he sold units. I am the first to say that Willy has one of the worst voices in music. But, I am also one of the first to say that Willy has a soul that sold it. Just can t beat that.

  • A marvelous duet for the pair. JUDA59ful

  • @ChevKiva. Do you ever proof read? Do you suffer from gender confusion?..HE literally treated HER band. Doesn't make sense.

  • Brenda was the worst artist ever to tour with. By the late 90's he literally treated her band and crew like dogs, eating alone in an explicitly private dining room like she thought she was a frickin' queen. Willie? I wonder how he ever got a second album deal. Obviously, some American sounds pass for authentic on the other side of the pond. This one's sappy enough to make one long to hear Dolly Parton!

  • We miss u Willy

  • I mistakenly said that Willy and Brenda was not in the studio together. I stand corrected by non other than Ms Lee. In a conversation she did indeed state that she met Willy and was in the studio with him.

  • This is one of my top 10 hits. A great arrangement and the voices of Willy and Brenda fit perfectly togethher.

  • What a lovely duett!
