Question
"Why does shaking hands spread less germs than kissing?"
Answer
Well, it should of course be noted that we touch other people with our hands far more than we touch them with our mouths! Our hands touch everything, from doorknobs and cutlery, to escalator railings and many things we don't even think about. Most of hese everyday objects are also touched by other people and as a result, we end up with germs all over our hands. Harmful infections and virii are easily spread when our germ-filled hands touch our noses and eyes. Believe it or not, it is much more difficult to infect yourself (with some exceptions) through your mouth than through your eyes and nose. Saliva can also act as a germicide, preventing some germs from living in your mouth. Despite the cleaner environment of our mouths, certain germs (virii such as HIV and influenza) are easily passed through kissing, so kissing somebody when you are sick or have a virus is still not advisable.

Would warm, soft, supple lips be to dry, cracked lips; as a firm handshake is to a limp wristed handshake?
