The nBot is a balancing robot built by David P. Anderson from simple parts.
It does a fairly good job of keeping itself upright against gravity and a few pokes from its creator.

Also...

Ever wanted a balancing scooter just like the Segway, but didn't have the $5k+ to dish out for it?
Well, Trevor Blackwell decided to build his own from off the shelf parts.
Granted, it doesn't have the safeguards of the original Segway or the stamina, and battery life, but quite a home project nonetheless.

Check out his site for more interesting stuff.

  • That is cool. Very cool. Do you have a write-up somewhere? What are you using for the "inner ear" of your "micro-Seg"? (The balance sensor)

  • "Inner Ear" Gyro.

He was just using a generic microcontroller attached to a ADXL202 accelerometer. Check out the links in the vid description for more detail.

  • hahaha, very serious competitor :D

  • wow great job getting it so stable

  • Very cool!!!!! One question though. Cup holder?

  • Why haven't anyone thought of building a human suit with gyroscopes and computers and motors that would keep the paralized man's body straight and let him walk forward?

If they can build a dog capable of walking on ice why no one helps humans?

Answer = Because hospitals, doctors, medical equipment companies will lose billions

  • It fell It fell I saw it I saw it :)

  • thats pretty cool. good work man.

  • It will have a tilt sensor inside so the wheels shift to keep the CoB central.

    Gyroscope wouldn't work.

  • Looks like Segway's Mini-Me

  • Amazingly well done!

  • I didn't know the Segay was viable enough to have competition.... Toyota is making some alternative that's going to be tested later this year, maybe it'll be better, almost anything is better than Dean Kamen's piece of shit.
