Abide With Me, played on my Berlin Organ Company reed organ. I have just recently restored this organ, and it was my first attempt at doing something like this.

I saw that there were a gazillion versions of this hymn on Youtube, so I thought I'd add the to collection :)

  • me encanta esta interpretación de los himnos ya que mi iglesia solo cantamos himnología. como estas y mi iglesia tiene un organo como este ,pero no funciona lo tenemos de recuerdo . el Selor los bendiga un saludo desde santiago de chile.

  • @escogida63 - muchas gracias!

  • Rodney. Thanks for posting this; it is exquisite. I am a church organist (yes, Bach, Willan, preludes, chant, hymns) and wish I could get the feeling you get from your Berlin from my Casavant! You are GOOD!

  • Thank you! You brightened up my day! There are a few Casavants in this area, and they all sound phenomenal . You are very fortunate to have a Casavant in your church.

  • It's so nice to see a reed organ played so enchantingly well. They rarely are. I just got a free one (my fifth!!!!) with three sets of reeds like yours, and I'm cleaning the insides and doing some restoration. I can't wait till it's finished - you showed that they can really sound like a real organ!!!!!! - with the 16' an 4' stops. and I play the hymns up and down the octaves like that too! - that was cool! ;p I noticed how you started an octave lower, but used a 4' so it sounded like normal

  • Thanks! I liked the darker sound of playing an octave lower at the beginning, I actually used a 2' with it in the bass. Too bad the video loses most of the rich tones.

If I had the room in my house I would definately have more too, it's a wonderful hobby :)

  • This is a masterful rendition on a beautiful instrument. Truly it should be every Christian's desire for the Lord to abide with us and we with Him. Thanks!

  • What a joy and treat to hear someone playing the reed organ at such a skill level. Like any other instrument, it needs to be played properly in order to be judged.Absolutely beautiful!

  • That was really beautiful. Took me back many years. Thanks.

  • Poetry Thomas Lyte I beleive. Music William Henry Monk. Correct me if I am mistaken.

  • Beautiful.

  • Whenever my day was not too good, I just watch & listen to this talented rendition of a brilliant piece of instrument & cry my heart out on my own. Very serene, like a mother putting her baby to sleep, with all the love a baby can have from a mother. The organist did put marvelous job in giving the piece an excellent spellbinding rendition, never have I heard live or recorded. Keep up the good work, and many thanks for uplifting me just by listening to this. xxx

  • A beautiful old hymn played superbly on an incredible reed organ. Too many of these organs are becoming orphans these days. Nobody wants them because they are either "tired"or take up too much room. I have a small Estey that I am currently restoring and hope to play for my own enjoyment. Thanks so much for this Video. Glory to God!

  • Awesome Sir!!! Simply superb!!! :) Keep up the good work........ No wonder, Old is eternally gold!!! :) God bless!!!
