@ib4colts2 It´s true - Gluck revised the part of Orestes, but it still funny, because apart all the revisions and adaptations, the Orestes is still seen and cast as a dramatic baritone/ bass baritone. But Domingo is still GREAT! No doubt about it.

@bariton9 Actually, Gluck himself revised/adapted that role for tenor. I believe this role would fit Domingo perfectly either way, though.

btw, it's a classicism opera, not baroque.

Yeah, Pylades isn't too high.

Thank you for this clip. I saw this production when I want to the New Production Gala in November. Domingo is absolutely FANTASTIC, as always. And I was very impressed by Susan Graham. Unfortunately, I had to sit through it with a couple of opera haters sitting next to me.

This wery good and on the other hand wery, wery strange - Orestes is a high bariton/dramatic bariton part...funny that Placido Domingo sings Orest and not Pylades. But still, this is wery good singing and if i may, a wery nice christmas present.Thank you for posting it.
What a wonderful Christmas gift for all of us, especially for these who weren't able to watch this performance (as me)! Merry Christmas, rmm413b! And thank you! :-))))
