  • I disagree that the I-beam mullion units are not to "emphasize" verticality -- Seagram obviously doesn't need it, Crown Hall is not verticality, and "emphasizing" is not Mies's style. It is to define VISUAL LINES and PROPORTIONS, and to concretize the MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION. I'll write more on this as I learn how to express it. Thanks for the factoid NYC regs vis exposed s.steel. Good job

  • Alguien me podría ayudar, necesito traducido este video y la traducción de youtube no me sirve mucho. Necesito videos en español porfavor. les agradesco, estoy armando una investgiación sobre dicho edificio y me interesarían videos sobre el mismo. GRACIAS

  • actually the seagram building wasn't the pioneer of open spaced office buildings per se, that was Lever House, which is close by. And I don't know if aristocratic is the right word to use for a modernistic office building. but it definitely is an elegant and beautiful building, surely one of the greatest in the world

  • Seagram building was built when Park Avenue was called the most expensive ground in the world to build on it. Mies van der Rohe only used 25 % of the ground he had. Its more a symbol of a clash between American and European architecture. Compare this building with the surrounding buildings and you'll conclude that this building has been built with a extremly elegance and aristocratic atmosphere...

  • I don't mind this building so much, I even like it a little, but mostly I think Modernist style is ugly, cheap, and un-ergonomic.

  • 2 Weeks ago I was in New York and having some free time i went to look for this bldg. After an hour i decided to ask a policewoman if she could help. She tried - but was not successful - by looking it up on her iphone. Turns out we were standing next to the plaza's green marble wall the entire time and did not know it. Anyway, I walked on nad continued my hunt for another hour until I gave up.Crazy.

  • The building's actually in midtown, not downtown.

  • splendido

  • great job
