Cheap fun for your dog

My dog Munchkin rarely likes any of the toys we buy for him. But a while back, I took an empty water bottle, put a dozen pieces of dog food in it, and threw it on the floor. Voila- my dog's favorite new toy. At first, he was able to extract the food purely by chance. He would push the bottle with his nose or pick it up and drop it, and then wag his tail and stare expectantly at the floor. After a while, he actually figured out the "cause and effect" (although the expectant tag-wagging is still a big part of it) and actually throws it around to get the food out.
