The man on piano, Graeme Bell led the very first Australian Jazz band to play in England and Europe after the War, is in his late nineties now and recorded and played with 'Big Bill' Broonzy in England in the fifties as well.
A true 'Aussie jazz legend'!

The State Government started all this crap years ago!
We (BEACHHEAD) were booked to do a gig at a little Bowling Club up the Central Coast, last year from memory, and I cancelled it when they started in about the band requiring it provide its own 'personal accident & liability insurance' and i told them to shove it.
The money sucked, they weren't going to pay us direct but through an agent who was going to hold the money for a week, etcetera. Not this little black duck, mate!

These bi-monthly 'picnic-style' sessions used to be a great load of fun. It was sad to see them die out because of the cost of insurance which eventually prevented them from continuing.
